Our Luggage Favorites
When it comes to luggage, there are more fantastic options than ever. So from weekender bags, to long haul trips, we look at the (stylish) options.
Hard care or soft case? Oversized expander or easy duffle? There are certainly classics that never go out of style, and then there are the new entries that offer portable electronic charging (it’s a think, and it’s fabulous). And while you can certainly walk into any department or discount store (TJ Maxx, etc), you want to make sure you luggage will go the distance, or else you will just end up replacing it before too long. Solid zippers, wheels, and functionality count for a lot and it will be worth the investment. Here are some of our favorite brands and styles:
The gold standard of luxury luggage. The Continental carry-on is key, as is the double expansion satchel.
Founded by women, Away states their product as luggage for the modern traveler—lightweight, premium features, and a even offering a lifetime warranty. Bonus: Free shipping and a 100-day trial period. Their classic carry-on, couple with their Everywhere Bag, is the perfect combo.
As one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of premium travel and carry-
Always reliable, and we have been using their Freeform and Carbon hard case spinner carry-on for years. The Omni PC is a great option for large check on. And according to T+L, the Samsonite Winfield 2 Hardside 20″ Luggage is the best seller on Amazon.
We are adding this as a special category because it seems everyone is making a darling weekend bag these days, certainly most luggage companies, and designers like Louis Vuitton to LeSportsac Large Weekender Bag, Black Crinkle Patent, to Target (big fans of the latter, by the way). It’s important to have one or two of these on the ready for those impromptu weekend trips and as a second bag on top of your suitcase. When we travel long haul, we take on of these as carry-on and check the giant.
