With Oktoberfest right around the corner, you have likely seen local pubs & restaurants around the world ready to embrace the event. But if you really want to experience it in all of its cultural splendor, you need to go to the source: Germany.
After traveling abroad for so many years, my last few have been consumed with domestic travel in America, exploring its many people, regions and landscapes. This is such a large nation, filled with so many different aspects of culture and landscapes, exploring your own back yard may continually surprise you, as it has me.
When it comes to individual cultures, one can always look to the local food to uniquely reflect it. Afterall, as the late, great Anthony Bourdain stated “Walk in someone else’s shoes. Or at least eat their food. It’s a plus for everybody.”
